This doesn't make any sense

June 21st, 2009 at 05:12 pm

I had my yard sale yesterday. Net proceeds=$12. I'm not too upset. The weather down here was miserable hot and my signs kept falling over. The important thing is I got a lot of crap out of my house. All the money I raise this summer is going to go to charity. Then I came home to this:

and

All of these are my husband's shoes. There are others scattered all around the house. No they didn't just magically appear but for some reason I am just now "seeing" them. This makes no sense. How many pairs of athletic shoes does one person need? How much money is laying on the floor of our closet right now?

I asked him to get rid of some of them and to be more prudent about buying shoes going forward. He agreed but he is looking at me like I'm crazy.

Well I see, white and black, in cross trainers, and high top, slip ons and trail runners, regular running shoes.

Honey, athletic shoes to men are like dress shoes for women. Low heal, High Heal, sandals, dressy, casual, fabric, leather, brown, black, white, cream, ecru, multicolor.

I have 5 pairs of running shoes. They are my weakness. I can do without heels...but you know what they say about a girl and her shoes!!

Ah - Men! With my husband it's baseball caps, which at least can be piled up on top of each other.

hehe, my brother has tons of shoes too, all of of them but 1 is athletic shoes. He even keeps them in the box. He has a shoe store in his room!! lol. And my brother cleans his the shoes that he wore for the day at night. It's crazy I know, lol. But he recently started to give up that addiction when he finally realized that most of his life savings was invested in shoes. lol.

If your husband would split his shoe collection with monkeymama's husband, maybe things would be spot on.

Oh! I thought it was just MY DH who does this!!! He's like a girl with shoes - they have to match his outfit! Thankfully he tires of them at some point and they rotate out of here. He doesn't have nearly as many as your DH... Smile

It might be over the top, but this leads me to point out that there important differences in athletic shoes. Running shoes are for running. Basketball shoes are for basketball. Soccer shoes are for soccer. Hiking boots and trail shoes are de rigeur for offroad activities. None of the above are suitable for golf, so golf shoes are in the mix. If you play baseball/softball in the summer, those are separate cleats, as well. Hockey means skates. It's a never-ending circus of footwear designed to provide footwear manufacturers with the means to drain a man's bank account with complete legitimate (-ish) purchases! =)
